Graduate to Graduate

One clear advantage of attending a regional CIES conference is the opportunity to cultivate professional friendships in smaller meeting spaces, that lend themselves to dialogue and exchange. Some UAlbany graduate students are willing to offer an accommodation in their own homes for fellow graduate students attending the regional CIES conference. If you would like more information about staying with a fellow graduate student, please contact Catherine @ ccoons@albany.edu or Esteban @ evillalobosaraya@gmail.com / 646-851-8728.

(Relatively) cheap accommodations

The two accommodations listed below are among the least expensive in Albany, and are located near bus routes that stop near the Downtown UAlbany campus, the venue of the conference.

Inns located in walking distance to conference:

Albany, one of the country’s oldest cities, has several lovely historical inns within walking distance of the conference venue.

Downtown Albany hotels:

Consider renting a room or apartment through AirBnb

If you decide on an AirBnB accommodation for your stay in Albany, we encourage you to look for places in the following neighborhoods that are within walking distance to Downtown Campus and near Washington Park. Staying in other neighborhoods (listed below) that are towards the Western side of the city or near the uptown campus may be fine, as there are convenient bus lines between the two campus centers.

  • Center Square & Hudson Park
  • Park South
  • Pine Hills (towards the southern edge, near Washington Park)
  • Ten Broeck Triangle (on Pearl/Broadway)

We have created a list of places in the suggested neighborhoods, which have good accessibility and amenities nearby. These places go from rooms to whole apartments/homes. Please remember to mention to the owners of these accommodations that you are attending the Regional CIES Conference 2018. They have kindly agreed to reserve spots for the Conference attendees. However, the best way to get a spot is booking ahead of time.
